Patryk is 29 years old, and from Poland. For many years, his life has revolved around dance – first as a passion, and later also as a career. Today, he is a dance instructor and teaches children, teenagers and adults, sharing his knowledge and love of dance. He lives with his fiancée Sandra and their dog, and he loves to spend time with his family, who he visits often.
In early 2026, he began to experience some worrying symptoms. First came a high fever, extreme weakness and very severe gum inflammation. Bruises also began to appear on his skin. For several weeks, doctors tried to determine the cause, and carried out further tests. Eventually, Patryk he was admitted to hospital through the Emergency Department, and on 5 February, he received a diagnosis that completely changed his life – acute myeloid leukaemia.
From then on, his daily life has looked completely different. Instead of dancing and working with students, his day involves hospital wards, drips, tests and further treatment. Patryk is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment, including chemotherapy, with further treatment cycles ahead.
Patryk has said that one of the hardest things about his diagnosis is being separated from his loved ones. Due to his medical vulnerability, he can only keep in touch with his family and fiancée over the phone. He misses simple things from his normal life, going to work, walking the dog, spending time with his family and being close to his loved ones.
Despite all this, Patryk believes that there are still many good times ahead of him. His greatest dream is to return to a normal life.
