The Story

Claire (aka Woman on a Mission) is a former oncology nurse and a proud ambassador for DKMS. In February 2022 Claire turned 50 and, not content with relaxing with a glass of bubbly, she set off on her biggest mission yet… Mission 50!

Throughout her 50th year Claire will be taking on various challenges, everything from a marathon to a sober month, to raise vital funds and awareness for DKMS. In total, Claire is aiming to raise £50,000 throughout the year – that’s enough to fund the registration of 1,250 potential lifesavers.

Every year 2,000 people in the UK with blood cancer or a blood disorder are waiting for a potentially lifesaving stem cell transplant. Finding a matching donor can be like looking for a needle in a haystack and DKMS is dedicated to getting as many people on the stem cell register as possible, increasing the chances of a successful transplant. It costs us £40 to register each potential lifesaver and we rely on our amazing supporters, like Claire, to help raise these funds.

Read more about Claire’s Mission 50 on her blog, and follow her on Instagram for Mission 50 updates.

You can support Mission 50 by registering as a potential lifesaver on the red ‘Become a donor’ button, or by donating to Claire’s fundraising page by clicking the green button. All proceeds will be sent to DKMS.

It costs us £40 to register a new donor on the UK stem cell registry. As a charity, we rely on monetary donations from the public to help cover this cost and greatly appreciate any contribution, no matter how big or small.
