Easter Donor Drive

There will be a donor drive for DKMS where people can register as a potential blood stem cell donor on the day. You can also register online for a home swab kit here.

Louise who used to work with blood cancer patients at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, said: “I’ve previously done other fundraising events for Blue Skies and DKMS and my sister was keen to get involved. Tracey’s husband’s grandmother had blood cancer but was too poorly to have a blood stem cell donation – so we wanted to raise awareness and encourage people to register as a potential life-saver and raise vital funds at the same time. “The money will also help to purchase the latest high tech monitors for the hospital which are very sensitive and allow the child to move more freely.”

Family Affair

It’s a family affair as Louise’s husband, Amith, a child psychiatrist, and their children Priya, 4, and Nikhil, 2, will also be there.

The Easter party will take place at The Clarence Pub, on Preston New Road, Blackpool, on Sunday 16 April from 10am to noon. It will feature live entertainment from clowns Nanny and Grandad Trumble, who are donating their services for free, face and nail painting, an Easter egg hunt, a party lunch and an Easter egg prize for the children to take home, plus much more.
