Every 27 seconds, someone somewhere in the world is diagnosed with a type of blood cancer. Many will rely on a total stranger to donate their blood stem cells, and potentially save their life. Sadly, many will not find a matching donor. This has to change.
This World Blood Cancer Day, Friday 28 May, we're on a mission to get 2,000 potential lifesavers to join the register. To do this we need you. We need your help to help spread the word, encourage people to find out more about DKMS and join the register. You'll be giving people living with blood cancer and blood disorders hope for a brighter future, helping us to create a world where everyone who needs a blood stem cell donation can find their perfect match.
Dig out anything red you own – clothes, accessories, make up - and get your partners, pals and pets involved. Take photos and share your red-filled snaps on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter – just be sure to use the hashtag: #wbcd.
Remember, the more photos we share, the more people will see, and the louder we’ll be heard!
Another great way to help is to simply tell people about the stem cell register, and encourage them to visit the DKMS website to find out more and sign up. So whether you send a quick message to your family group chat, talk to your bubble on a walk, or send some emails round to colleagues - this simple action could save someone’s life in the future.
At 6pm on Friday 28 May, Olly will be sharing his world-renowned expertise and answering your questions, to help us find the perfect wines to match with cheese!
Register your interest now for this free event, which will be hosted on our YouTube and Facebook pages. Everyone is welcome; all we ask is that you help us turn Olly’s perfect matches into lifesaving matches by making a contribution to DKMS.
