Once your swabs are received by the DKMS lab, our team of scientists will analyse your cheek cells for HLA tissue markers. HLA is used by your immune system to recognise which cells belong to your body and which do not - and they are used to match patients and donors.
Once HLA markers are identified, your individual HLA profile will be created, anonymised and placed on the stem cell registry.
