Lauren, Sarah and Jane are the founding members of the DKMS Wiltshire Volunteering Hub. The Hub aims to boost DKMS UK’s presence not only in Wiltshire, but across the surrounding counties too.
"The Hub has several ideas for donor registration events for 2017 and into 2018. The three of us have been busy bouncing ideas off each other and hope the Hub flourishes and registers lots of new potential blood stem cell donors.
I chose to volunteer for DKMS as I have been touched by blood cancer through family and friends and I decided that I would like to do something tangible to help in the fight against blood cancer."
"I chose to volunteer for DKMS as my husband had leukaemia and needed a stem cell transplant, without the register this wouldn't have been possible. I would like to help grow this register to help as many people as possible."
"Although I've not had any direct, or indirect experience of anyone I know suffering from leukaemia, I felt I wanted to do something to help a charity I believed needed it. DKMS is simple, straightforward and enables people to have a better chance at life by uniting donors. People feel that they have contributed more by offering a swab, instead of just money, and I can't believe more people aren't involved, so I'd like to help get DKMS' voice heard."
