West Sussex beauty salon to hold fundraising day for blood cancer charity

A West Sussex beauty salon is holding a fundraising day to help blood cancer patients. The La Touche beauty salon in Linfield is fundraising for blood cancer charity DKMS. On Saturday, the 12th of November, the team at La Touche will be wearing the charity’s t-shirts during the day to raise awareness and will be selling cakes and holding a raffle to raise funds for DKMS. The day will then climax with a fashion show.

For many blood cancer patients, a blood stem cell donation is their only chance of survival but many patients in the UK never find the lifesaving blood stem cell donor match they need. DKMS works to improve the chances of those seeking matching donors to save their lives by recruiting potential stem cell donors to increase the pool of donors. La Touche decided to support DKMS after one of the team was personally affected by blood cancer.

Speaking about the beauty salon’s support for DKMS, Jade Knevett, a beauty therapist at La Touche, said: “At La Touche Beauty Salon we decided we wanted to host a charity event where we can include everyone and showcase what we do best, therefore we are hosting a Runway event of Make Up through the decades with a variety of fundraising activities.

“One of our chosen charities is DKMS, this is very close to our hearts as sadly a colleague's family member passed away earlier this year. Her main aim throughout her life and journey was to raise awareness about blood cancer and get people to register to be a blood stem cell donor, which we don't have enough of! For the support of her and her family we would like to help as much as we can to fundraise and raise awareness.”

Praising the team at La Touche for their support, Shadia Hameed, Community Fundraising Manager at DKMS, said: “It is wonderful, and so impressive, that the team at La Touche have organised this day. Not only will they raise valuable funds for the charity, they are helping to raise awareness of the importance of registering as a potential blood stem cell donor and recruiting people to help save lives.”
