Three-year-old Ava, from Fife, was diagnosed with inherited bone marrow failure in April this year. Her family have been told that she urgently needs a blood stem cell donation from a matching donor to save her life.
A matching donor was found for Ava, but unfortunately, they were unable to donate. In September, Ava's family were told that a second donor had been found and that the donation was scheduled for the end of October. However, sadly, her family were devastated to be told that this donor was also unable to donate for medical reasons.
Thanks to incredible support from the public and the people who joined the stem cell register after the second matching donor was unable to donate, two new matching donors have been found for Ava and a transplantation has been scheduled for the end of November.
