On Tuesday 29th March, the UK Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted and shared an article about Samrick Bahia, who is a fantastic fundraiser and donor recruiter for Delete Blood Cancer UK. Samrick has been supporting Delete Blood Cancer UK since he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in January 2013, during his second year of a Business degree at the University of Worcester.

The Prime Minister said: “Samrick knows how vital it is that we do everything possible to fight blood cancer – and he is helping to lead the way for us all. He has raised a fantastic amount of money for Delete Blood Cancer and inspired hundreds of people to join the Stem Cell Registry and help save lives. I am delighted to recognise Samrick as a Point of Light in our country and wish him luck in all his future events – including the Three Peaks Challenge in June.”

Samrick has organised two galas with ‘Viva Las Vegas’ and ‘Bollywood’ themes and has run donor recruitment events at his university. 500 people have been registered at events organised by Samrick, and he has helped raise nearly £100,000 for charity.

Samrick has been highlighted as part of the UK Government’s ‘Points of Light’ initiative, which recognises individual’s outstanding contributions to society.
