This September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. We’re using it to share the huge impacts Covid has had on people with blood cancer, and also to celebrate the generosity and selflessness of our Life Savers in Lockdown. From Steve, the postman who carried throughout the pandemic to deliver lifesaving swab kits to people’s houses, each accompanied with his handwritten notes of encouragement; to Gary, who donated his blood stem cells before putting himself and his family in quarantine in order to give someone a second chance at life; to Sally, who helped us spread the word and get thousands more people on the register.
There have been, and continues to be, lots of challenges because of Covid. But there’s also plenty to celebrate.Read More
As we all know, not all superheroes wear capes. Some wear trainers, gaming headsets or even cocktail dresses. You can be a lifesaving hero from your own home and do something incredible!
We are all facing difficult and uncertain times. For someone living with blood cancer or a blood disorder, such worries are multiplied. It is vital that we continue to register potential lifesavers, but the COVID-19 crisis means that our planned fundraising events and activities can no longer go ahead in the conventional sense. That’s why we need you. Together we will beat blood cancer from our own homes.
We’ve created a whole range of activities for you to get involved with, either alone or with friends and colleagues. Whether you want to have fun, get fit or get competitive, we’ve got a virtual activity for you. Take a look below at what we've got lined up, and remember, we're always here to help so don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
Remember, we’re here to help you, give advice and guidance and discuss any ideas you may have to help

Whether you’re looking to get fit or missing your local park runs, you can take part in virtual runs and bag yourself a medal! We have put together a range of challenges so sign up for the one that works for you, create a fundraising page and dig your trainers out.
Set an individual or collective step goal and get walking! Choose a virtual destination: you could pick a place you’ve always wanted to visit or calculate the distance between your home and your workplace. Set up a Just Giving page or a Facebook fundraiser in return for your efforts.
Yoga vs Blood Cancer
Harness the compassionate heart of yoga to make a massive difference to the lives of blood cancer patients, giving hope at a time when it's so needed.
Lets Nail Blood Cancer
Lend a hand in the fight against blood cancer by hosting a virtual #LetsNailBloodCancer party and raising funds to help register more potential lifesaving blood stem cell donors.
Test your stamina with a gaming marathon or recruit a team for a virtual tournament. Whichever you choose, by streaming and sharing your progress you can change the game for blood cancer patients.
Make your Zoom celebration official by using Fundzzle to create a guestlist, send digital invites and ask for contributions to your chosen gift and DKMS. Using Fundzzle saves paper, postage and money spent on unwanted gifts. Use your celebration to help save lives!
Rally up the support of friends and family by simply using a donation sticker in your Instagram stories or by setting up a Facebook fundraiser for DKMS. We’ve been blown away by the generosity of people who, simply through using social media to share our posts or tell others a bit about the charity, have helped raise vital funds and awareness.
Whether you’re shopping online for essentials, or splashing the cash on a pick-me-up, you can support DKMS at the same time. Shopping via Give as you Live and selecting DKMS as your chosen charity won’t cost you a penny extra, but a portion of your spend will come to us.
20 FOR 20
We've joined forces with 20 other cancer charities to create a unique and exciting 20-day challenge, 20 for 20. Complete a 20-challenges-a-day calendar any time from September 20th - November 20th, raise vital funds and help us to find more potential lifesaving matches.
Of course, we’re grateful for any support you’re able to give. If you’d rather make a straightforward donation, and in doing so help us to ensure as many people as possible get a second chance at life, you can contribute to DKMS below.
