Victory for Kaiya who is fighting a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia

We’re absolutely ecstatic to share with you that Kaiya, who’s fighting a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia, has now found her matching blood stem cell donor – it’s the perfect birthday present!

Her appeal to find a match has inspired more than 11,550 people to register as potential lifesavers at donor drives held in her support.

Please join us in wishing the lovely Kaiya the very best with her blood stem cell transplant as she begins the next stage in her journey to get back to full health, and to many more very happy birthdays!

This is how the #CureKaiya appeal started

“We need your help urgently! This is a heartbreaking post we never thought we would have to write: Our world was turned upside down when we found out our little 5-year-old-girl, Kaiya, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia. Kaiya urgently needs a blood stem cell transplant, if she is to stand any chance of surviving.

Please register as a potential blood stem cell donor and also inspire family & friends. Maybe you’re Kaiya’s match…

We are making a plea for you to consider joining the stem cell registry. You might be a lifesaving match for our unicorn-loving, sweet hearted gymnast or someone else in need. It is just a cheek test swab to be added to the registry. Kaiya has endured 5 weeks of chemo, blood transfusions, high dose steroids, lumbar punctures and many more invasive and toxic interventions. Despite this, she is happy spirited, attending school and continues to look after her kid sister by helping her get dressed and giving her breakfast. She’s a fighter.

Please join her in this fight, and help us save her life. Kaiya is our world. She is the kindest, big hearted person you will ever know. She is such a sweet, fun loving girl that makes everyone laugh with her infectious giggle. She is an amazing big sister and we are so proud to have her as our daughter. We want to celebrate her birthdays, see her graduate and have the happy and successful life we've dreamt for her.

She is destined for big things and only you can help get her there. We are forever indebted to the kindness of our friends and strangers. Please register as a potential blood stem cell donor and share our story. Please spread the word so that others also get inspired to register and help Kaiya and other blood cancer patients.

Thank you.

Annu, Kaiya's mum”
