Isle of Wight Hub

DKMS Isle of Wight Volunteer Hub

Our hub leader in the Isle of Wight, Katy, first heard about us in 2013 after attending a donor registration event for one of our former patients, Finley Morris, who was in need of a blood stem cell donation.

Katy says: ‘I’ve met some incredibly inspiring people both through DKMS and locally. There’s a great little network over here and people are really supportive. I’m excited about some future events that I’ve got in mind and I hope to encourage others to take 2 minutes to swab their cheeks and go on standby for saving a life, whilst having fun and raising some cash in the process!’

During the Christmas period last year, Katy organised a Christmas Jumper Day on the island, coinciding with Text Santa to raise awareness and funds to register potential lifesavers. There were some brilliant entries and the event raised over £100, even featuring in the island's newspaper.
