Alara has found her match

Alara has found her match... but many more are still searching

Seven year-old Alara from Belfast was diagnosed with leukaemia three years ago.

She went into remission after being treated with chemotherapy. Unfortunately, she relapsed in August and her parents were told that she needs a blood stem cell donation to survive.

Alara has now found her match. However, there are many more people in need of a blood stem cell donation who are still searching.

You could be a match for any one of these people. Register now to become a potential blood stem cell donor.

Alara’s parents were devastated when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of three and were determined to find someone with a matching tissue-type who could donate some of their blood stem cells to her. As only sixty percent of those in need of a blood stem cell donation find a donor with a perfectly matching tissue-type, her parents appealed for more people to register as potential donors, to increase the chances of finding a matching donor for Alara and all those seeking a donor.

Despite her illness, Alara likes to do all the things that little girls do. She is a huge fan of Frozen and loves ponies. Her parents say: "Anyone out there could be a match, so please, please register today. You could possibly save a child's life.”
