Employee Engagement

Research shows that engaged employees are happier and more productive.

Fundraising at work is about having fun. It’s a great way to build team spirit and get people involved but it also gives your employees the chance to make a real difference.

“Culture and engagement is the most important issue companies face around the world. 87 percent of organizations cite culture and engagement as one of their top challenges. Organizations that create a culture defined by meaningful work, deep employee engagement ….. are outperforming their peers and will likely beat their competition in attracting top talent.” (Deloitte Human Capital Trends 2015 report.)

“88% of Milennials say their job is more fulfilling when they are provided opportunities to make a positive impact on social and environmental issues.” (2016 Cone Communications Millennial Employee Engagement Study)

DKMS can work with Companies to facilitate and encourage employee engagement in a variety of ways.

Donor Registration and Volunteering

DKMS can train your employees to register potential stem cell donors at donor recruitment drives held at your offices. This is a great way for employees to increase their knowledge about blood cancer and blood stem cell donations and engage with their colleagues.

Fundraising Activities

We can work together in developing exciting employee fundraising initiatives, activities and challenges that will engage and motivate your staff.

Match Funding

Our Corporate partners can match employee donations and money raised through fundraising activities so DKMS will receive double the support. Match Funding can demonstrate a company’s support and commitment to causes their employees care about.

Companies can play a vital role in helping DKMS achieve its mission by holding company donor recruitment drives and making donations to fund our life saving work.

A blood stem cell donor could be found amongst a company’s diverse pool of employees, enabling DKMS to inform someone with blood cancer that we have found the life-saving match they have been waiting for. Many companies cover the costs of employee registrations or match fund donations made by their employees.

Below are just some of the companies who have supported us in this way.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a scheme run through HMRC which allows employees to make simple, tax-effective donations to any UK charity or good cause. If you pay your employees through PAYE (as most UK companies do), you can set up a Payroll Giving scheme. Donations are deducted from gross pay – before tax is deducted. This gives immediate tax relief on donations and means it costs less for your employees to donate.

Payroll Giving (also known as Give As You Earn or workplace giving) is a valuable, long term source of revenue, providing regular income to help charities budget and plan ahead more effectively. Employees can choose to support any charity of their choice with a regular donation direct from their pay.

Register with a Payroll Giving agency to set up a scheme. They’ll let you know how to make deductions.

Charity of the Year for 2018 - DVS Ltd

DVS Logo

In 2018, DVS made DKMS their Charity of the Year.

DVS, one of the fastest growing security surveillance distributors in Europe, has selected DKMS to be their Charity of the Year for 2018. Gavin Dunleavy, Commercial Director of DVS, wanted to support DKMS after Gavin’s friend and father of three Ian Witham was diagnosed with an aggressive form of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in September 2017 and was searching for a matching blood stem cell donor. Gavin said:

“Ian and I have been friends for over 10 years and it was heartbreaking to witness him and his family go through such a devastating time. I wanted to do everything that I could to support him which is why I nominated DKMS to be DVS’s Charity of the Year for 2018. To know that we are raising vital funds to help register more potential lifesavers who could one day be a match for someone in need of a transplant is really inspiring.”
