This Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we are urging people to register as potential blood stem cell donors to help save the lives of blood cancer patients. We're highlighting that the fact that for many blood cancer patients who need a blood stem cell donation for their survival, a perfectly matching donor is never found.
We believe that this will change if more people register. For many blood cancer patients, a blood stem cell donation is their only chance of survival and they will die if a matching donor isn’t found for them.
We want people to understand that when matching donors are not found, this doesn’t mean that there is nobody out there with a tissue type compatible to the patient's. There could be someone who is a match, but tragically, they may not be on the register.
Please support our appeal by registering as a potential blood stem cell donor with us, and let those aged 17 to 55 know that they can help save a life by registering as well.
