Become a donor

DKMS is asking you to join our register as a potential blood stem cell donor.

Every 20 minutes someone in the UK, such as Pete, above, is diagnosed with blood cancer.

Evie needs your help

Often, after conventional therapies have failed, patients are left needing a blood stem cell donation from someone with a similar genetic background. Many will be in desperate need, and the donation could give them a second chance of life.

One in four people are lucky and find a match within their own family. Others, including Pete and Evie, need to search for a willing stranger to donate their blood stem cells.

Evie (left) is only 15 months old and has two serious diseases. Her best chance of survival is to find a matching donor.

Each new potential donor costs us £40 to register. You can help cover our costs by making a gift today.

Could it be you?

Donating is usually a straightforward process, as Poonam (right) can testify. She’s done it twice! For most people, it involves a few hours sitting in a comfortable chair, having blood withdrawn from your arm, with your expenses and travel paid by DKMS.

DKMS’ mission is to provide a matching donor, like Poonam, for every patient, like Pete, who needs one and we need more people on our register to do this.

Registering is simple, click ‘BECOME A DONOR’ below, fill in the form and we’ll send you a home swab kit. Swabbing takes two minutes and could be the first step to giving another person a second chance of life.
